How To Get To Georgia By Road  
Currently Georgia is accessible to foreign travelers by road from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey. The Russia-Georgia checkpoints at Kazbegi (The Georgian Military Highway) and Tskhinvali (The Roki Tunnel) and routes across the Georgian-Abkhaz border are currently closed to third party nationals but their status is being discussed at the government level and are subject to change.

Turkey - Georgia
 

Western Georgia/Black Sea coast - suggested route: Sarp (Turkey) - Batumi - Poti - Kutaisi - Tbilisi (415 km, non-stop drive 6-7 hours, depending upon road conditions)

Southwest Georgia - suggested route: Posof (Turkey) - Vale - Akhaltsikhe - Khasuri - Tbilisi (305 km, non-stop drive 4-5 hours, poor road conditions between vale and Akhaltikhe)

Eastern Georgia - suggested route: Baku - Shemakha - Sheki - Lagodekhi - Tsnori - Gurjaani - Tbilisi (600 km, non-stop drive 9-10 hours, poor road conditions between Tsnori and Gurjaani part (30 km).

Southeast Georgia (“Red Bridge”) - suggested route: Baku - Yevlakh - Gyanja - Kazakh - Rustavi - Tbilisi (550 km, non-stop drive 8-9 hours)

Southeast Georgia (“Sadakhlo Route”) - suggested route: Yerevan - Hrazdan - Sevan lake - Dilijan - Vanadzor - Bagratashen (Sadakhlo) -Shulaveri - Tbilisi (290 km, non-stop drive 6-7 hours, poor road conditions between Sadakhlo and Shulaveri (40 km).

Southern Georgia (“Bavra Route”) - suggested route: Yerevan - Gumri - Bavra - Akhalkalaki - Borjomi - Khashuri - Tbilisi (480 km, very bad road conditions between Bavra and Akhalkalaki, passable only by cars and minibuses. No bus travel)
