Colchis is the land where the epic legend of the Argonauts was acted out and where the golden fleece was kept. Explore Svaneti, the highlands of this ancient legend. For centuries, the Svan ethnic groups preserved their intact culture, cut off from the outside world by the high and inaccessible mountains. Here, gold in rivers is still collected using sheep’s fleece.

Day 1:
Arrival in Tbilisi; met and assisted at the airport.

Day 2:
Tbilisi sightseeing tour; visit a town with centuries old history and discover its museum treasures.

Day 3:
Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Kutaisi; drive west towards the second biggest city of the country; en route visit Mtsketa, the former capital and religious center of the country.

Day 4:
Kutaisi and its surroundings; explore Kutaisi, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Colchis. In the afternoon visit Vani archaeological site.

Day 5:
Kutaisi - Mestia; venture north to Svaneti - it was here that most of the Colchi’s gold was obtained.

Day 6:
Mestia and its surrounding; leisure day in highlands of Svaneti; visit Latali and Lenjeri villages with medieval watchtowers and churches, get acquainted with Svan school of iconography.

Day 7:
Mestia - Ushguli - Mestia; explore Ushguli, architecturally unique Middle Age fortification, surrounded by the 5000 m giants of the Caucasus Mountain Range.

Day 8:
Mestia - Zugdidi - Batumi; from Svaneti highlands drive to subtropics of Adjara region – the land of citruses and tea.

Day 9:
Batumi sightseeing tour; explore Batumi, one of the oldest cities inhabited from as early as the third century BC. Visit Gonio fortress and Batumi Archaeological Museum.

Day 10:
Departure; transfer to the airport.
